Due to popular demand, we’ve added an additional screening of the film originally shown on Hollywood Theatre’s opening day, featuring live accompaniment by Dean Lemire on the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.

Albert Gran and E.J. Ratcliffe are warring San Francisco shipping magnates; Mary Brian is Gran’s daughter and Charles (Buddy) Rogers is Ratcliffe’s athletic son. The result is a swift, exhilarating comedy, full of laughs and a nonchalant charm.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Columbia River Theater Organ Society for the continued preservation and maintenance of the Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ at the Hollywood Theatre.

Step back to 1926 for a one-night-only celebration with Pipe Organ Pictures!

In honor of the theatre’s 100th anniversary, the COLUMBIA RIVER THEATRE ORGAN SOCIETY and Pipe Organ Pictures present an incredibly rare 35mm screening of MORE PAY-LESS WORK, the very first film ever shown at the Hollywood on opening day, July 17, 1926, 

Featuring Hollywood organist, DEAN LEMIRE, performing his original score LIVE on the Mightly Wurlitzer organ

An evening of entertainment awaits including a retro dance performance, a special presentation on the history of the Hollywood Theatre, short films, as well as some other surprises! Plus vintage Old Hollywood style carbon-arc gas searchlights on Sandy Blvd! 

Guests are encouraged to arrive in their finest formal wear or 1920s-inspired attire for the chance to win prizes.

One of the finest and most revered comedies of the silent era….Buster Keaton’s favorite film…the iconic masterpiece of the “Great Stoneface.”

Shot on location in Cottage Grove, Oregon in the summer of 1926, THE GENERAL contains the most expensive stunt ever filmed in the silent era…the iconic shot of a real locomotive crashing off a collapsing bridge and into the ravine below.

More than just a constant stream of great gags, what makes THE GENERAL so extraordinary is that it is superlative on every level: in terms of its humor, suspense, historical reconstruction, character study, visual beauty, and technical precision. One might even argue that it comes as close to flawless perfection as any feature ever made, comic or otherwise.

Fritz Lang’s 1927 iconic science-fiction masterpiece…. fuses the frenetic storytelling of twenties pulp fiction with Lang’s personal fascination with the darker side of human nature.

Written by Fritz Lang and his wife, Thea von Harbou, and starring Brigitte Helm, Gustav Fröhlich, Alfred Abel, and Rudolf Klein-Rogge.

Stunning art-deco visuals set in a futuristic urban dystopia, the film follows the attempts of Freder, the wealthy son of the city’s ruler, and Maria, a poor worker, to overcome the vast gulf separating the classes of their city.
